Time for another mod screenshot/discussion thread! Up for today I have, once again, nezeramontias (by acromantic aria). Why am I featuring this mod again? Two reasons: 1) a new version of the mod was released (with a lot of new and interesting features), and 2) the mod has realm support now! No more tcp/ip games ^^ Installation instructions and links are at the bottom of this post. Nezeramontias, for those who weren't here for my first mod screenshot/discussion thread or can't remember, utilizes a great amount of 1.10 features. You have a host of new modifications on items, new monsters (over 60 according to the readme), new level layouts (including an obstacle course - more on that later), a plethora of new uniques, new items and item types, new skills (both old skill changed and completely new abilities), item-only skills, a new skill point system, 750 lvl cap, and, most importantly, monster souls. A breif overview on souls: Monster souls can drop from just about every monster - both regular and unique monsters. The souls will come with abilities representative of the monster: piercing for ranged attackers, abilities that the monsters use, summoning/morphing into the monster, etc. You can even find souls from act bosses, and use legendary abilities such as diablo's pink lightning hose. The realm is the same one I posted for eastern sun, but over the past few months this realm has shaped up. Pings are usually under 300 (and have been for the last week that I've been playing), and there aren't any lines for games. While I cannot guarentee that the realm will remain in good condition, it seems to be stable at the current time. There are also a fairly decent amount of people online, though you may need to solo at times if you cannot get on at peak times (from my experience, there seems to be three peak times: 6-7 AM for the korean peak time, about 11 AM-2 PM, and about 7-8 PM in eastern time). A small screenshot of the realm and current games. I'll start with the gameplay screens now I'll try to not repeat too much from my first mod screenshot/discussion thread. Here is a prize from the gauntlet, the aforementioned obstacle course (I'll get into more depth later!) I thought this was a very interesting unique, as it is themed towards boosting potions. Laurels are a rare monster-dropped potion which gives near invunerability for 30 seconds; inf mana is a semi-rare monster-dropped potion which gives near infinite mana for 30 seconds. For those who don't know, there are 25 d2 frames in a second. A crafted amulet socketed with a jewel. Once again, take note of the new mods on the item. The mod with "+ to extra passive angel" boosts a paladin skill called divine presence, which summons an angel to distract enemies and cast fist of heavens (normally only one is allowed out at once). Quill rats! Well, just three players in quill rat form. Quill rat morphing, along with the quill multishot skills, are abilities granted through souls dropped by quill rats. The higher level quill rat morph you have, the more AR, IAS, and walk speed you have in the quill rat form. The new duriel's chamber. There are hordes of monsters in here, so you'll have to fight both duriel and a couple of minions. The side rooms contain more monsters and a couple of gold chests; it is a good idea to explore the chamber now Magic vacuum, a skill which can only be obtained through a unique large charm's charges. Oh, and cows have a chance to cast this when struck The sewers, level 2. These are the act 3 sewers, of course. If you have ever been there, you'll see that this mod has GREATLY expanded the sewers lvl 2. It's difficulty increase is equally huge in here you'll find molten boulder gargoyle traps, bone spirit and spear lightning spires, and a crapload of new monsters. On top of that, you must fight a monster with prayer, frozen orb, molten boulder, and a bunch of minions. How fun! Of course, one of the funnier features of this mod is a host of new monster unique names. I'm sure you remember some of them if you've played before. One of the new barbarian skills - spirit of stone. I believe this was in the last release of nezeramontias, but I never featured it (I played a necro last release). Anyway, this warcry will reduce you movement and attack speed, but in return it will give you damage reduce, magic damage reduce, and damage reduce %. It'll also make you look like a revive, as you can see in this screenshot As a side note, you can also see the barbarian skill summon ancient (the black korlic). Of course, some skills are changed around a bit or improved. Enchant is a great example of that. Not only has it gained an extra synergy, but it now provides you with deadly strike and attack speed I would LOVE to see an enchantress around a necro army. I'm sure a few of you are wondering what the gauntlet is, as I've been mentioning it in this post. Well, in short, the gauntlet is an obstacle course. A huge obstacle course. Basically, you have to get from the start to the finish without dieing. This, of course, is very difficult to do. Nothing in the gauntlet can be hurt or targeted. You'll just have to run as fast as you can, and hope that those nasty molten boulder towers or baal cold wedge spires don't knock you back. You also have a couple of monsters knocking you back and stunning you, plus a few towers throwing volcanoes under your feet. Throughout the entire course, you'll also be bombarded with pumped up act5 catapults. You'll also meet up with nasty things such as untargetable/invunerable duriels chasing you around, knocking you about and stunning you like a ragdoll. To add to your torture, there are towers and traps which have negative auras - stamina and mana draining auras mostly. Oh, and you can't forget the mazes - all of which do not have a minimap, one of which has invisible walls (yet the monsters can still move freely around, giving you no indication whatsoever of the pathway). To top it all off, you must face those suicidal minions from act5 at every single turn. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? The end is certainly fun, though; you recieve a truckload of prizes. Gauntlet screenshots (only a few now; more will come later) All of the prizes (except for a few skill books) from successfully running the gauntlet in normal: Most of it is crafting, for which I don't know the recipes. The exp bags are all fairly high though I do have a few complaints about the mod, though. -Too easy after normal or if you are twinked. -"super mod": you can pump your characters forever -Certain overpowered aspects (although no character is underpowered and unusual builds are viable) -The gauntlet may be too laggy for most people. -There is an abuse with the gauntlet (the ending is right next to the beginning, and you can teleport to it ) -Too easy to twink (exp bags in particular) -Leeching gives too much exp -A few game crashing bugs (well, the only one I've encountered is that a high level quill rat multishot will crash other people on screen) It's still a decent break from normal d2, and it's also great to see what 1.10 is capable of. One last screenshot for this post: Ever wondered how many monsters you've killed? ^^ the kill counter doesn't work with spells, but its great for melee/ranged (and the mod readme says certain unique items will gain stats as your kills go up - awesome!) Installation instructions: Download the mod fromhere. If you can get the installation batch to work successfully, just use that. I recommend just renaming the .mpq for the mod to patch_d2.mpq, and using copy and paste into the d2 directory (after backing up your original patch_d2.mpq, of course). There are also files for a mac installation, but they are of no use to me (perhaps someone else can post instructions for that if they use a mac). Next, download the battle.net gateway editor here. Then add the following server: Server name: DVR Host adress: dvr.mine.nu Timezone: Can't remember (this doesn't matter much anyway). Save the new list to registry, and be sure to select the DVR gateway from the list before connecting to battle.net. Also be sure to switch to the DVR_NEZ gateway instead of the DVR_ES gateway at the character select screen. Nezeramontias doesn't have a title screen, so you'll know if you installed correctly once you enter a game (and either crash or see an expanded stash). On a side note: the old recipe for creating a soul hunter medallion is gone. Most people go ahead and create the medallion using the two shards, as there is no other way to create them. I'll be playing under my usual name, vaevictis, in case you want to whisper me on the realm. I take it this is much more in-depth than Eastern Sun? Then again, Eastern Sun was more about loads of cube recipes and powering up super-customized items than leveling up and changing the levels around in my opinion. Some new quests would be pretty cool. The fact that it's on the same realm I already play is nice. Could you give me a link to where to download the mod? Well since theres a Mac version I've been playing since it seemed interesting last time you posted this mod. Right now I have a level 19 barb in the outer cloister but I ditched him for a Pally I just started because I realized I had no idea what I wanted to master (Sword, Maces, etc.). First off, last time you posted this mod it seemed a lot more customized. Most of the skills are still the same... Each class has like 3 new skills? 4? I was kind of disappointed. Anyways, I was curious if souls have other uses other than actually wearing them. Like cube recipes or something. I found out how to fuse them with that charm, but so far its done nothing but made a counter go up... What a waste. Can the souls be upgraded via cube? For example if I had like 3 fallen souls and cubed them would i get a better one? Also is there a database (website) for this mod anywhere? Like a list of the stats of new uniques and sets and stuff. And especially the souls. I'd like to see which souls are actually useful... Haha. (Some are kind of pointless..) Yeah. QUOTE Anyways, I was curious if souls have other uses other than actually wearing them. Like cube recipes or something. I found out how to fuse them with that charm, but so far its done nothing but made a counter go up... What a waste. Well, I've found one use. There's an item that you can find to transfer a soul's stats onto a jewel. I'll post some interesting screens later this post QUOTE I found out how to fuse them with that charm, but so far its done nothing but made a counter go up... What a waste. The soul hunter medallion is designed to be a place to dump extra, unneeded souls into. The bonuses are VERY slow (first bonuses at 32, then at 64, 128, etc. up to 1000 something). Every multiple will increase the bonus. You can also find items to increase the efficiency of certain stats (like less souls are needed to gain another point of dex), and certain unique items will increase based on the amount of souls you possess in the medallion. Once again, I'll post screens of this later. QUOTE Brilliant!! I mean wow you toook all that time to make a Battlenet editor as well?? As ac196 said, I didn't make anything of this. I can barely even mod (the best I've done was allow a zon to have 30 valkyries out at once ^^). Though I might try to learn map editing for d2 eventually (there's a program to do that available). QUOTE Oh yeah, whats Magic Affinity? It's like enhanced damage for spells of all kinds. In addition to items improving magic affinity bonuses, there are auras (such as the sword familiar's aura and demon imp's aura) which boost magic affinity bonuses. Putting points into energy will also boost spells in some fashion, similar to how strength benefits most weapons and dex benefits bows. Curses, for instance, will gain slight amounts to radius and duration with points into energy. QUOTE Too bad I can't find a gateway editor for Mac. (Preferrably OS X.) Yeah. So I'm lounging in single player. Well, I know very little about macs. You could change the gateway manually on PC's by editing the registry... is there an equivalent to the registry in a mac? Anyway, time for another update I suppose. This is one of the many themed items in nezeramontias. An anti-paladin theme, to be exact. This is the second item I've seen themed for anti-paladins - necro skills, act4 monster skills, etc. I believe it may be possible to create a successful anti-paladin in this mod Gloves themed towards assassins. Note the mod that boosts claw mastery damage. Another themed item, but this time it is geared towards the asn trap "potion launcher." Unlike a few of the other unique charms in this mod, you can have as many of these in your inventory as you like. Sorry if you've seen this item before - I believe I posted a screenshot of this item in my first screenshot/discussion thread. I found a belt that sort of counteracts this item; it has + to female character skills and attack rating/damage vs. males. A very overpowered item in the mod. It allows people to reach 750 quickly (another aspect of this mod I dislike). Yet another nice themed item, with negative stats. It reminds me of diablo I. Lucifer in hell - once again, I believe I posted a screenshot similar to this in my first thread. Lucifer is the boss of the kagero dungeon, a massive 6 level, harder-than-act5 dungeon. A cow transformation, granted by the new unique thresher. Complete with cow sounds, and a chance to reanimate monsters as a cow . The best part is that your merc can be equipped with the weapon, and will become a cow himself. I've always wanted a cow for a merc! Eight people in one game on the mod realm. If you look closely, you can see a cow, radament (by the tp's), izual (slightly hidden behind the pandemonium fortress pillars), and a couple of ancients summoned by another barbarian and me. A quill rat soul from hell, transmuted into a jewel via an item called the spirit jewel device. Examples of stats which increase based on kills and souls. I've heard that you can get 4 billion kills max, and I have no idea of how far the soul count continues, so these stats could still increase a lot (I had about 50k kills in that screenshot, with about 100 souls). Usually, the soul/kill increasing stats are very slow, as they can potentially become very high. The paladin skill, divine presence. It summons tyreal, who attracts monsters (similar to a barbarian's taunt, but area of effect) and casts fist of heavens when struck. This tyreal can also be chilled, poisoned, and affected by my spirit of stone warcry. A blue, green, or black tyreal is quite interesting Also take note of the skill's icon in the bottom right. An item with an interesting graphic. Temporal fog is an item-only skill, granted by this item. It is like cloak of shadows but will reduce damage and speed stats of monsters instead of blinding them and reducing defence. That x8 exp bag helm is crafted? Was it just a fluke that he managed to make it or does he have some weird jewels hammered into it? Also if you will notice in the screenshots when Vae has his inventory open, you can see his weapon is a Gattling Gun! Yeah you heard me... I have seen the thing myself and it is unique, has 6 Ohms in it, and is just godly overall. I followed the instructions but for some reason it doesnt work . It loads the normal D2 expansion screen, so I click on the DVR server, I try to create a character but whatever name i put in it says it already exists. Does anyone know whats wrong? QUOTE I followed the instructions but for some reason it doesnt work . It loads the normal D2 expansion screen, so I click on the DVR server, I try to create a character but whatever name i put in it says it already exists. Could you give me assistance Vaevictis? The mod doesn't have a different loading/main screen. Make sure you change it to the DVR_NEZ gateway (in the top right of the character select/creation screen, it'll either say DVR_ES or DVR_NEZ - change it if it's on DVR_ES). Also be sure to make a nonladder character (uncheck the ladder box, otherwise I believe it'll cause the name taken error). I want to see the minigun. Once you show me this, I will happily join on said journies.... btw, is it possible to have two seperate installs of D2 on your computer? Pfft, my amazon owned with the gatling gun. I had 6 perf amazonites for lots of attack speed. Wow, levels go very high. Those treasure trove runs rox0r. can u show me a picture of that gatling gun? I mean all the stuff that the barb wears?? ac196nataku Posted: Mar 23rd 2004, 07:59 PM [ Quote ] Unregistered whats the treasure trove run? wheres the trove? or whatever? thx. Vaevictis Posted: Mar 23rd 2004, 08:05 PM [ Quote ] Unregistered My equipment: In the second screenshot, the set item "lori's weight" is an amulet. I had to chop off the name though As for my rings, I think I will craft class-specific +skill rings (which go up to +60 or more O.o), and insert my souls (duriel hell and either my grotesque or imp hell) into the crafted rings. My gatling gun is the same one my necro used in my first screenshot/discussion thread, although I had one "killer" rune (50% deadly strike) to replace one of the ohms. You can buy just about every LoD rune from the shopkeepers, although there are about 10 additional (and quite rare) runes added for nezeramontias. You can also dupe a rune once through an item called a magic mirror. The nice thing about machine guns and its exceptional and hell counterparts (gatling gun) is that its base speed is EXTREMELY fast. Put it on a werebear, and you'll be attacking FASTER than a 6 shael phase blade O.o; Here's an overview of what my stash and inventory look like, along with a cool kicking asn item. Vaevictis Posted: Mar 23rd 2004, 09:10 PM [ Quote ] Unregistered QUOTE btw, is it possible to have two seperate installs of D2 on your computer? I believe it is possible, but I can't remember where I came across the method for doing it - if I did at all. QUOTE Am I the only one getting the Down page? I believe the site is currently down I'll try to find the fileplanet link soon, although the last time I tried fileplanet I recieved a corrupt zip file. QUOTE whats the treasure trove run? wheres the trove? or whatever? thx. The infernal pit in the frozen highlands (the area before ancient's way and glacial trail, in the red portal). It has a bunch of uber maggots and andariels, but they drop a lot of gold, uniques, and sets. You'll also find nasty things such as magic vortexes (stationary objects which have an aura to drain mana - immune to everything but physical in hell) and black holes (stamina drain aura - immune to phys in hell). The maggots all have a poison attack which is like achmel's hell... but in normal. It can be very hard for certain character builds, but is certainly worth it. Lone Prodigy Posted: Mar 23rd 2004, 10:55 PM [ Quote ] Unregistered What does that little Izual doll do? Wraithfighter Posted: Mar 24th 2004, 12:07 AM [ Quote ] Unregistered QUOTE (Lone Prodigy @ Mar 23rd 2004, 07:40 PM) What does that little Izual doll do? Throw it in the cube with a tyreal, diablo, andarial, and mephisto doll and you get a pretty ammy. Its an intresting mod. I'm sorta playing it now myself, and I gotta say its pretty difficult. However, I have found cheese. Monster Gates are obscenely cheesey. For those of you who don't know, a Monster Gate calls in monsters for you to fight. Normally, it will create one monster from the area you're in, unless that monster comes naturally in a larger pack (like carver shamans). You kill them and get exp. I can get 75% of a level off of 250 charges of a Monster gate. Not to mention the gold and items that drop. Its like risk free leveling, since they usually come alone! Sorta goes like this: Wraithy uses Monster Gate. Monster arrives, and says "wha, who, where am I?" Wraithy hits monster a few times, and kills it. Wraithy then picks up the gold. Wraithy casts monster gate again... Vaevictis Posted: Mar 24th 2004, 09:16 AM [ Quote ] Unregistered QUOTE Wraithy uses Monster Gate. Monster arrives, and says "wha, who, where am I?" It's a lot more boring to use monster gates though (and you can't kill uniques/superuniques who may give souls).
